At Lifelong Learning College, we specialise in helping adults return to education at any stage of life. Whether you want to gain GCSEs, complete A Levels, study an Access to Higher Education diploma or develop new skills, our courses are designed to fit around work, family and personal commitments.
Every learner’s journey is different. Some students are gaining qualifications they missed earlier in life, while others are preparing for university, changing careers or pursuing a personal interest. Whatever your goal, our courses are designed to help you progress with confidence.
We understand that adult learners are balancing study with work, family and other commitments. That is why we offer a wide range of flexible courses that allow you to study at a pace that fits around your life.
On this page, you can learn more about our story, our founders, the wider team behind the college and the values that guide everything we do.
Lifelong Learning College is supported by a team of experienced educators, tutors and academic support staff who are dedicated to helping learners succeed.
The college forms part of the wider Cambridge Online Education group, which has been delivering online education since 2002, long before online learning became widely adopted.
This experience has helped shape the systems, teaching approaches and academic support that underpin our courses today. Our tutors are subject specialists who understand the needs of learners studying remotely and returning to education later in life.

Cambridge Online Education began in 2002 when our founder, then an art and design teacher, set out to solve a common challenge in classrooms: how to support students who learn at different speeds and in different ways. Recognising the potential of the internet to provide more personalised learning, he created an early online learning platform that allowed students to work at their own pace and access high-quality resources beyond the classroom.
What began as a small online resource quickly grew as schools started using the materials to support their students. This success led to the creation of Cambridge Online Education Ltd, bringing together educators who shared a vision of using technology to expand access to learning. Over time, the organisation developed some of the UK’s earliest fully online educational programmes.
Today, the Cambridge Online Education group includes a number of specialist online schools and colleges, including Cambridge Home School, Queens Online School, Bridge Online School, the Online College of Art & Design, Access Courses Online and Lifelong Learning College. Together, these schools/colleges share a commitment to flexible, high-quality online education for learners of all ages around the world.
Since joining Cambridge Online Education in 2016, I have focused on expanding the organisation’s vocational and adult education provision. Before this, I spent nearly a decade in mainstream education, including senior leadership roles, where I developed a strong commitment to supporting learners who may not thrive within traditional educational pathways. My background in Art, Design and Technology has shaped my approach to learning, combining creativity, practical skills and flexible study to help students build confidence and achieve meaningful qualifications.
Working with colleagues across the organisation, I have helped develop vocational programmes and colleges that widen access to education for adult learners. This includes creating pathways for those returning to study to gain GCSEs, A Levels, vocational qualifications or progress to university through Access courses. Lifelong Learning College represents the latest stage of this work, supporting adults to return to education through flexible, high-quality online learning.
At Lifelong Learning College, we believe education should be accessible, flexible and empowering for everyone, regardless of their background or stage of life. Many of our students are returning to education after time away from formal study, balancing learning with work, family and other commitments. Our approach is built around understanding those realities and providing supportive, high-quality learning that helps adults rebuild confidence, develop new skills and achieve recognised qualifications.
We are committed to creating an environment where every learner is respected, supported and encouraged to succeed. This means providing expert teaching, clear guidance and flexible study options that allow students to progress at a pace that works for them. Whether someone is studying for personal development, career progression or preparing for university, our goal is to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to move forward and realise their potential.
We understand that deciding to return to study — especially through distance learning — can feel like a big step. Whether you are looking to gain qualifications you missed earlier, change career direction, or develop new skills, we are here to support you. With the right guidance and flexible learning, you can move forward with confidence and achieve your goals.
