Assessment

Assessment is delivered through externally set written examinations by Pearson Edexcel that test your understanding of geographical concepts, data interpretation and real-world application.

International GCSE Geography introduces learners to the dynamic relationship between people, places and environments. You will explore key themes in physical geography such as climate, hazards and landscapes alongside human geography topics like urbanisation, development and global connections. The course develops skills in data analysis, map interpretation and problem-solving, all within real-world contexts.

At Lifelong Learning College, this qualification is delivered online with flexible pacing and structured support options designed for adult learners, meaning you can fit study around work, family and life goals while gaining confidence in geographical thinking and communication.

You will cover a balanced range of physical and human geography topics:

  • Physical Systems & Environmental Change: climate systems, weather hazards, ecosystems and resources
  • Human Geography & Development: population patterns, urban growth, migration and global inequalities
  • Landscape Change & Management: coastal processes, river systems, landscape features and management responses
  • Geographical Skills & Fieldwork Understanding: map interpretation, data collection, analysis, and evaluation techniques
  • Global Issues: sustainability, climate change impacts, resource security and future challenges for people and places

You will learn how to interpret graphs, statistical data and maps, apply geographical models, and consider cause and effect in both natural and human environments.
